Commonly assigned as Silurian-Devonian (11)

Province:
Sukhothai Fold Belt

Type Locality and Naming

.

West of Thung Saliam district, Sukhothai province. Formerly called Thung Saliam Gr with three informal formations: Khao Khieo Tuff Fm, Thung Saliam Limestone Fm and Khanu Chert Fm. This group was changed its name to Sukhothai Gr (Geological Survey Division, 1987; Bunopas, 1994; Wongwanich and Boucot, 2011). Age

Assigned vaguely as Silurian-Devonian? However, Ridd (2011; in Geology of Thailand) says that there is no definite early Paleozoic in the Sukhothai tectonic unit. [For graphic purposes, pending clarification of regional stratigraphy, shown here as middle to late Devonian.]
